Struggling with mid-week blues but don’t have time to catch up on a full Netflix streaming session? You might just be in need of a power dose of entertainment squeezed in a 2-minute capsule. Yes, we are talking movie trailers. Here are top five you must check out NOW to beat the weekday monotony with some anticipation and excitement.

Top Hollywood movie trailers you should not miss this week:
  1. Pup Star: Better 2Gether

A pack of cute talking dogs getting used to the heady mix of stardom and working together to defeat the bad guys – reminds a little bit of Alvin and The Chipmunks, doesn’t it? Except talking dogs are way cuter. Animal stories are endearing and just the kind of stress-buster you need to beat a bad day. The Pup Star: Better 2Gether is releasing in select cinemas on August 29 and is also slated for a simultaneous online release. The best way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon! Until then, enjoy this new movie trailer.

  1. 6 Days

Terrorism may be a commonplace hazard of our existence today but it never fails to evoke feelings of fear, despair, and empathy. Tapping in on those emotions, 6 Days takes you back to a terrorist attack that took place nearly four decades ago, when a group of armed men took control of the Iranian Embassy in London and held ground for six days. The movie premiered at the New Zealand International Film Festival on August 4 and will hit theatres early September.

  1. American Honey

Award-winning writer-director Andrea Arnold has come up with her first film set in the US, using a classic combination of two popular teen movie genres – road trip and a coming-of-age story. American Honey traces the story of a rebellious child who leaves home after falling for a man who earns a living as a magazine salesman. The movie is scheduled to hit theatres on September 30th but you can catch a glimpse of it already.

  1. Duck Duck Goose

Animated movies are just downright brilliant. They are cute, hilarious and can have their poignant moments without trying too hard. Case in point: Finding Nemo, Kung Fu Panda, Madagascar. Duck Duck Goose is another such hilarious account about the ‘trials and tribulations’ of birds’ lives. Check out the trailer now, and catch it in theatres on April 20.

  1. Mother!

A stranger trying to take over a home, a mother with ‘mama bear’ instincts fighting a ferocious enemy to protect her family. It is a plot you have seen several times over but also one that can keep you on the edge of your seats nevertheless, as you wait for the good guys to prevail. After a teaser earlier this month, a full-blown trailer of this Jennifer Lawrence starrer has now been released.

6. Same Kind Of Different As Me

This upcoming drama film written by Ron Hall and directed by Michael Carney has intriguing stuff written all over. The plot revolves around the lives of an international art dealer who befriends a homeless man in a bid to save his failing marriage to a woman gripped by her dreams. It is these dreams that eventually lead these three people connected by an unlikely bond on the most remarkable journey. The movie hits theatres on October 20, 2017, but you can catch the new movie trailer now:

7. Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars

Did you love The Martian? Then here’s another Mars-bound sci-fi flick that you cannot afford to miss. The fifth offering from the Starship Troopers series, this film revolves around the journey of Federation trooper Johnny Rico, who has been ordered to work alongside a group of new recruits on a satellite station located on Mars that comes under attack from giant bugs. The film is releasing in the US and Japan on August 21. Before you book your tickets, do check out the trailer.

8. The Killing of Sacred Deer

There is something creepy about this title, and the film’s trailer establishes beyond doubt that The Killing of Sacred Deer is a film laden with nail-biting moments. Starring Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman in lead roles, the film traces the life story of a prominent surgeon who adopts a teenager – an action that causes his life to fall apart. Here’s a sneak peek:

9. The Stray

Dogs are adorable, dog movies even more so, and that’s why I’m recommending another dog movie trailer here. The Stray tells the story of how a stray dog, Pluto, walks into the home of a family going through a rough patch and magically pieces together their lives’ puzzles.

10. Wonder

A kid with a scarred face is subjected to harsh judgments and cruel ways of world way too soon in life and embarks on a journey to teach people that beauty is what’s on the inside. Based on RJ Palacio’s 2012 bestselling novel of the same name, Wonder holds a lot of promise. Oh, and did we mention, the film also stars Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson – now that’s definitely cherry on the cake! The film is scheduled to hit theatres on November 17 but a new movie trailer has just been released.

This interesting lineup definitely calls for a mini-tub of popcorn. Go, grab yours, before you hit play.
