Sony is going to make Xperia phones great again!

If there is anything I like about Sony Xperia phones, it would have to be the hardware specs. I mean, Sony always gets it right with the hardware; they tick all the right boxes featuring the best processor, standard gigs of RAM, and a great camera.

However, they’ve always sucked when it comes to the design of their flagship smartphones, or pretty much any phones they’ve made so far. There’s always this giant bezel up and below the display which makes them look like they’re from a bygone era.

The design of the newer Xperia handsets has not changed much since the original Xperia Z1 smartphone. And, we’re talking about a phone that debuted sometime in 2013. That’s a long 4 years of copy-pasting the same old design, and apparently, Sony never felt the need to change until this year.

However, according to a new leak (courtesy of Techie State, via SlashLeaks), that came to light recently, Sony is allegedly working on a new handset that looks something like this:

Now, for many Xperia fans (including me), this picture might look too good to be true, so I suggest you keep a salt shaker handy. But, if this picture is legit, we might see the first ever full-screen phone from Sony debuting sometime next year.

But hey, I’m not here to discuss the potential design of the incoming handset. Instead, I would like to talk about the hardware specs — something Sony is actually good at.

We earlier told you about a leaked picture detailing the specs of Sony Xperia XZ2 and its younger variant, XZ2 Compact. The picture suggests that the former will be powered by Qualcomm’s recently launched Snapdragon 845 processor along with 6GB RAM.

As per numerous reports, the Galaxy S9 will come with only 4GB of RAM — just the same amount of RAM as this year’s Galaxy S8. Even Evan Blass has written an article about it on VentureBeat, so it’s pretty much confirmed at this point.

Now, we all know that more RAM means better multitasking capabilities. And if these reports are anything to go by, the Xperia XZ2 will beat the Galaxy S9 when it comes to RAM size. Featuring more RAM size, coupled with an all-screen design, we believe the next Sony flagship phone has better odds in giving the Galaxy S9 a good run for its money than the other way around.

Abhin’s love for all things tech started when he got his first smartphone, Galaxy S (the first), in 2010. Since then, he has been crazy about technology and tried out all major Android flagships from Samsung, and HTC. He currently uses a Google Pixel 4a as his daily driver.
