We have good news for Sony Xperia 1 II users in the UK and Germany!

After rolling out in Taiwan last week, Sony’s Android 11 update has finally hit the Xperia 1 II users in the UK and Germany. As reported earlier, the update brings with it several other features besides what we have come to expect from the native release.

The additional features include:

  • Updated Cinema Pro app with support for 4K HDR 120fps slow motion video recording
  • MR Mode for Photo Pro app to save frequently used options
  • 5G+4G dual SIM dual-standby capability
  • Screen recording option in notification bar
  • New wallpapers
  • Long pressing the power button brings up smart home control
  • WiFi and hotspot can be turned on simultaneously
  • Modem (baseband version) updated
  • 5G+4G dual SIM dual-standby capability

The update carries build number “58.1.A.0.926” in the UK and comes with the latest December 2020 security patch. The update rolled out in Germany, however, carries the same build number as that rolled out in Taiwan last week — “58.1.A.0.921“.

As well as unlocked variants, carrier-locked Sony Xperia 1 II smartphones have also started receiving the latest Android OS update in the UK. Users on Vodafone UK and O2 have confirmed receiving the OTA update.

Going by the roadmap shared by the company, Xperia 5 II and Xperia 10 II models are next in line for the update (end of January 2021), followed by Xperia 1 and Xperia 5 (Feb 2021).
