LG V30 Plus Alpha may be the company’s first smartphone of this year.
According to a report in Korean Herald, LG may be prepping to launch a new revamped variant of the V30 Plus handset with advanced AI capabilities. The source also claims that the handset will debut at the upcoming MWC event and it may be called the V30 Plus Alpha.
Though there are no other reliable sources to back this report, it’s worth noting that the possibility of a new V30 variant goes in line with the comments LG Vice Chairman made at the CES event last week. LG’s Vice Chairman Cho Sung-jin said:
We will unveil new smartphones when it is needed. But we will not launch it just because other rivals do. We plan to retain existing models longer by, for instance, unveiling more variant models of the G series or V series.
The original V30 and V30 Plus were launched back in August last year, featuring a ground redesign from its predecessor, LG V20. Rocking an all-screen front design, this handset came packed with high-end specs including 6.0-inch QHD+ display, Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB RAM, 64/128GB storage, dual 16MP+13MP rear cameras, 5MP front-facing camera, and a 3300mAh battery.
The handset originally came loaded with Android 7.1.2 Nougat, however, the Android 8.0 Oreo update has already been rolled out to the handset about three weeks ago.
