Nokia, or HMD Global if you wanna call that way, has just launched their latest flagship offering Nokia 8. Sure, the handset has every awesome stuff packed inside to make it as powerful as Samsung’s Galaxy S8. But Nokia, you should really work on your design to compete with your rivals when it comes to sales. Otherwise, you will certainly face a similar fate as Sony, which doesn’t even have a decent market share in their own home country Japan. Apparently, it’s either the Galaxies or Apples for the Japanese people. However, we are here with a good news for all the Nokia fans out there… Nokia is bringing yet another flagship phone – Nokia 9 – with a gorgeous design to the market later this year.
Nokia marked its entry into the Android phone market with the launch of a bunch of cheap handsets, including Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3. These phones, however, turned out to be rather boring contradicting our expectations. They were not the ones we were expecting from a company that was making a huge comeback.
Fast-forward to today, Nokia finally has a flagship level phone of its own – Nokia 8. Although it has Galaxy S8-grade specs and features, the phone features a very uninspiring design with large bezels on the top and bottom. Every smartphone makers, in 2017, have turned their focus to the design side of their devices; then there is Nokia that apparently doesn’t care about the looks of their handsets.
But, if leaks are anything to go by, we should probably see a ground-up redesign on the upcoming Nokia 9. A new leak courtesy of NokiaPowerUser focuses on a design with very thin bezels and edge-to-edge display. Similar to Nokia 8, the Nokia 9 should feature a dual camera setup coupled with Carl-Zeiss lens.
While the Nokia 8 features a fingerprint sensor on the front, the Nokia 9 is tipped to feature a rear-mounted fingerprint reader below the dual camera setup. Although the exact launch date is unknown as of now, we expect Nokia to launch the handset later this year. The device is expected to face stiff competition from its rivals including Galaxy S8, LG G6, and yet-to-launch Galaxy Note 8.
Rumors are suggesting that the Nokia 9 should feature a 5.5-inch screen with 18:9 aspect ratio. Yes, we are talking about an edge-to-edge display with very thin bezels on the top and bottom. Besides that, it will probably feature Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB RAM, and 3500 mAh battery.
Apart from the flagship, Nokia also seems to be working on a cheap handset – Nokia 2 – with Snapdragon 212 processor and 2GB RAM.
