Vivo Xplay 7 leaks online with an edge-to-edge full-screen design and an under-display fingerprint reader.
Sure, the Galaxy S8 and iPhone X are the best choices if you’re in the market for an all-screen phone. However, neither Samsung nor Apple could master the technology to integrate the fingerprint reader under the display. While Samsung had to move the sensor to the rear to increase the screen real estate up front, Apple opted to do away with the sensor as a whole to bring the latest smartphone design trend to the iPhone X.
And now, a new leak reveals that both the Galaxy S8 and the iPhone X may have a surprise new rival in the making. Obviously, it’s neither from Sony, which makes ugly-looking phones nor is it from LG, that makes terrible smartphone displays. Rather, it’s the Chinese phone maker Vivo which has apparently mastered this new holy grail of mobile technology.
Earlier this year, the firm managed to pull off a working prototype of a device with under-screen fingerprint sensor at a trade show in Shanghai. And now, a new leak has surfaced to give us an early look at the upcoming iPhone X rival. We’re talking about this:
If you take a closer look at the photo above, you’ll find that the Vivo Xplay 7 has no bezels along the sides. We might be looking at the first phone that allegedly has a 100% screen-to-body ratio. To compare, the iPhone X has a screen-to-body ratio of 82.9%, while the Galaxy S8 features 83.6% screen-to-body ratio. Clearly, the Xplay 7 would be way ahead of the competition when it’s released early next year.
As with every flagship released recently, the Xplay 7 will also have a dual rear camera setup. As far as the specs are concerned, we expect the Vivo Xplay 7 to pack Snapdragon 845 chipset and 8GB RAM under the hood.
