A GeekBench listing reveals that the upcoming Xperia XZ1 will feature Galaxy S8-grade specifications.
Sure, Sony’s current flagship Xperia XZ Premium is as good as Galaxy S8 when it comes to performance. It features the same processor – Snapdragon 835 – and the equal amount of RAM – 4GB – as that of the Galaxy S8. But, there are features on the XZ Premium that needs serious fixation. One of which is the camera that faces severe distortion while the other is the old school design with very thick bezels on the top and bottom. However, things are about to take a 360-degree turn when Sony will launch their upcoming flagship Xperia XZ1.
As we have reported a while ago, the Xperia XZ1 will come with the same Snapdragon 835 processor and 4GB of RAM as the Xperia XZ Premium or even the Galaxy S8 for that matter. But, that’s not the only important part, is it? After all, the XZ Premium has the same specs as the Galaxy S8 and yet it couldn’t beat the latter in sales.
Xperia fans, rejoice! According to a report that surfaced last month, Sony is ditching the ugly design for a brand new all-screen front design with very narrow bezels on the top and bottom. Sony’s display manufacturing factory, JDI display has already started manufacturing 6-inch displays with 18:9 aspect ratio. Samsung’s Galaxy S8 is currently the most attractive smartphone on the market. But we expect things could change when Sony finally unveils the Xperia XZ1.
Also, we believe that Sony must have found a fix for the camera lens’ distortion issue by now. So, we can assume that the XZ1 will sport one of the best phone cameras on the market, beating the current leader Galaxy S8. It could even come with a dual camera setup, who knows? In case you didn’t know, Galaxy S8 is regarded as one of the best camera phones by several critics. In fact, the image quality rating website DxOMark has given it a score of 88 out of 100. According to the website, the phone features excellent autofocus, accurate white balance, and very effective noise reduction. Now to compare, the XZ Premium scored 87 points out of 100, ranking itself below the Galaxy S8.
So, what do you think about the upcoming Xperia XZ1? Will the XZ1 give the Galaxy S8 a run for its money?
