This motorized paper airplane from PowerUp will surely revive your good ol’ memories from childhood.
Making airplanes with paper, blowing them with all our might and then watching them nosedive was a big part of our childhood. Oh, the sense of triumph when those paper planes went flying right across the room. And the sinking feeling of watching them fall flat on the ground…
Popular toymaker, PowerUp, is changing that bittersweet experience of flying paper airplanes forever with its latest offering of motorized paper airplanes. After introducing the concept of motorized paper airplanes and then adding the Bluetooth remote functionality to it, PowerUp is now ready to roll out a model that’s capable of performing aerobatic stunts.
The PowerUp Dart is a technologically-advanced twist on the good old homemade paper planes, capable of performing aerobatic stunts controlled by a smartphone. It can perform 3D tricks such as spins, barrel rolls, loops, and wingover midair. It can take off and land on the ground, and fly up to 10 minutes on a single full charge. There is also a free app that can be used to instantly connect to the Dart control module. Powered by the already tried and tested Bluetooth connectivity, this Dart plane can be controlled by simply tilting the phone in the desired direction. Ascent, descent and other tricks can be controlled with added thrusts. It also comes with an absolutely effortless setup and handling. Just turn on the device and pair it with Bluetooth, you are all set for takeoff.
PowerUp was conceptualized when a former pilot and industrial designer Shai Goitein was teaching kids about aerodynamics. During the preparation for one of his classes, he discovered that micro-flights based on miniaturized technology were a tangible reality. And that’s how he ventured into developing paper airplanes that can do a lot more than fly a few feet.
The PowerUp Dart can move at a speed of 25 mph, is built to survive crashes and tumbles, and can be used without any clearance, owing to its small size. The battery of this miniature Dark paper plane can be tanked up with just 25 minutes of charge with any standard micro-USB charger. It is available in spunky colors that definitely add to its appeal, making it more fun and amazing to handle. The smart paper airplane is currently available for pre-order on Kickstarter. It is expected to start shipping in December for $29 per unit.
