A couple of pictures allegedly showcasing a brand new Sony Xperia handset has surfaced. It is said to be the upcoming Xperia XZ1 Premium, an upgrade over the recently released Xperia XZ1.

Sony’s forthcoming handset dubbed Xperia XZ1 Premium has been allegedly showcased in a couple of live pictures. The newly leaked pictures showcase a radical new Sony Xperia handset with very thin bezels along the top and bottom of the display panel.

The handset, which is believed to be an upgrade over the recently released Sony Xperia XZ1, is rumored to launch at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018. There are two handsets showcased in the picture, and one of them looks identical to an iPhone 8.

If the leaked pictures are anything to go by, Sony might finally bid adieu to their four-year-old OmniBalance design that debuted with the Sony Xperia Z in 2013. Based on the pictures, the Xperia XZ1 Premium will sport a very large display — presumably 5.7-inch — with 18:9 aspect ratio.

Specs wise, the handset is rumored to pack the recently launched Snapdragon 845 chipset, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage and 3,420mAh battery. Besides that, the Xperia XZ1 Premium will mark the Japanese tech giant’s entry into the dual camera-powered smartphone market.

Although we don’t know much about the handset thus far, the Xperia XZ1 Premium is shaping up to be one of the hottest smartphone releases of 2018. The device will, however, face stiff competition from the rivals such as Samsung Galaxy S9 and LG G6. Speaking of which, the Galaxy S9 and LG G6 are also expected to launch at the MWC 2018, alongside the Xperia XZ1 Premium.

Sony’s latest flagship smartphone, the Xperia XZ1, is a pretty solid device in terms of specs and features. However, the only downside about the handset was that it lacked what is apparently the biggest smartphone trend of 2017 — an all-screen front design.

Abhin’s love for all things tech started when he got his first smartphone, Galaxy S (the first), in 2010. Since then, he has been crazy about technology and tried out all major Android flagships from Samsung, and HTC. He currently uses a Google Pixel 4a as his daily driver.
