SideSqueeze App Brings HTC-exclusive Feature To Galaxy S8 and Note 8

The SideSqueeze is an Android app that mimics the Edge Sense feature found on HTC U11 and Pixel 2 handsets.

If you ask me about one thing I love the most about HTC‘s 2017 flagship, the first feature that would come to my mind is going to be the Edge Sense technology. This feature lets you perform an action just by squeezing along the edges of the smartphone. Though that sounds a bit gimmicky, it turned out to be one of the unique selling points of the HTC U11.

The feature then made its way to the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL phones, although with a downside. Speaking of which, the feature — the Active Edge, as Google calls it — works only for triggering Google Assistant and ending calls. Regardless, it is hands down one good feature to have on your phone.

Now, if you’re anything like me who don’t own a Pixel 2 or HTC U11 phone but wants this feature so bad, then you may wanna check out this super cool app dubbed SideSqueeze on PlayStore. As you’d expect from the naming convention, this Android app lets you have the HTC-exclusive feature on pretty much any Android-powered phone.

However, it’s worth noting that the SideSqueeze app has so far been tested only on Samsung Galaxy S8, S8 Plus, and Note 8 devices. Also, for the app to work on your device, it has to meet two significant requirements. That is, the phone should be water-resistant and it needs to have a barometric pressure sensor onboard.

Unlike the built-in Active Edge feature on the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, this application comes with a plethora of customizations options. This includes switching to the last used app, exiting to the home screen, pausing videos, turning on/off WiFi, or launch other applications including Spotify or Google Assistant.

Hit the source link below to check out the SideSqueeze app from PlayStore.

Abhin’s love for all things tech started when he got his first smartphone, Galaxy S (the first), in 2010. Since then, he has been crazy about technology and tried out all major Android flagships from Samsung, and HTC. He currently uses a Google Pixel 4a as his daily driver.
