RedmiBook series are expected to offer highly affordable laptops in India.

Previously, we have heard rumors that Redmi might be making its debut into the laptop business in India soon. And now, a new teaser from Redmi India’s official Twitter handle reveals that the new product category will be launched in India on February 11.

From the teaser, it appears that the laptop will have a metallic finish and super sleek form factor, much like Apple’s MacBooks. Although Redmi is a standalone company in India, its parent company in China Xiaomi sells laptops under Mi and Redmi brand names. So, this is not really a first for the Chinese company.

The latest laptop to come out of Xiaomi in China is the RedmiBook 13 which was launched alongside the Redmi K30. In terms of specs, the ultrabook comes with a small 13.3-inch FHD+ display with narrow bezels. For taking care of the performance, Xiaomi offers the option to choose between the latest 10th Gen Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors. 8GB RAM comes as standard, while a 512GB SSD storage is present on all the models. It even comes with the Nvidia MX250 graphics card. Besides, it is packed with several integration apps and services to connect with other Xiaomi devices.

In India, Redmi will compete with established players such as Dell, HP, Lenovo and Acer that sell lightweight ultrabooks with the latest generation chips at an average starting price of Rs 50K. The Chinese company is expected to keep the prices cheap, thereby introducing a new segment of ‘ultrabook killer’.
