Asus CEO confirms the existence of Asus ROG phone.
Asus is working on their first ever Android gaming phone, dubbed Asus ROG Phone, confirms CEO Jerry Shan. With the success of Razer Phone and Xiaomi’s recent entry in the form of Black Shark, it could be said without the slightest note of exaggeration that the Android gaming phone market is heating up, and more players are expected to show up anytime soon.
Mind you, gaming hardware is nothing new for Asus. In fact, Asus’ ROG brand has a remarkable track record of offering impressive budget-friendly gaming laptops and PCs. So, the firm’s debut in the gaming phone market is expected to give the current players a good run for their money.
There’s not much that we know about the device as of now, besides the fact that it is in the making. Though the first Asus gaming phone was expected to show up at MWC 2018, that, unfortunately, didn’t happen due to some reasons unknown.
Asus CEO, Jerry Shan, confirmed the big news on his interview with a Philippines publication, Astig, stating that a gaming phone can be expected from the Taiwanese firm sometime this year. He was in the Philippines as part of the opening of Asus Philippine’s 100th store at Ayala Malls Feliz.
Though pretty much nothing about the phone has been revealed by Asus so far, we believe the hardware specs of Asus ROG phone could be along the lines of those of the Xiaomi Black Shark. Some of the expected specs of the gaming handset include 18:9 display, Snapdragon 845 chipset, 6/8GB of RAM, and 64/128GB of onboard storage.
