First of all, let’s get this out of the way: BlackBerry Motion is official with a 5.5-inch FullHD display, 4GB RAM, and a Snapdragon processor (not revealed yet, likely the Snapdragon 625 chipset). The main highlight of the device, however, is the addition of a 4000 mAh battery with QuickCharge 3.0 support. Although the Motion may not stack up well against the Galaxy S8 or the LG G6, it’s a pretty decent phone for the budget price bracket. Speaking of, the device costs $460, though we are not even sure you’ll ever get to hold one of them in your hands. Now, why is that? Well, it’s simple: TCL – the Chinese company that now owns BB mobiles – was mum about the global availability of the handset at the launch event in Dubai.

Now, even if the Chinese company launches the handset here in the United States, who would actually risk buying them? Noone. BlackBerry‘s business has hit the skids ever since the company made all of their security apps available for download on the PlayStore. That is, you get all the BlackBerry security features for absolutely free if you have a device that’s running Android OS. And then, TCL’s efforts to bring back the glory of BlackBerry in the form of BB-branded Android handsets have miserably failed, too. Sure, it has launched a bunch of Android phones boasting high-end security features, but none of them managed to beat the sales of their rivals from Samsung and Apple. That was quite obvious, though!

And now, it looks like the company is not ready to give up that easily, and is planning to claw back some market share with the launch of a brand new all-touchscreen handset, BlackBerry Motion. TCL advertises the new BlackBerry Motion as a budget-friendly solution for the best Android smartphone. However, the device doesn’t have any enticing feature to justify the $460 sticker price. In fact, it does not pack a high-end mobile processor nor does it have any of the 2017-trending features such as a dual camera setup or a full-screen design. And for the said price tag, there are better options in the market such as LG G6 ($457) with high-end specs and a gorgeous design.
