Let’s talk about Galaxy Note 8 specs, leaks, and release date… Everything you need to know about the forthcoming phablet! By now everyone and their dog should know the fact that a new Galaxy Note is right around the corner. Thanks to the endless number of leaks and rumors making rounds for months now, we now have a clear picture of what to expect from the Unpacked event scheduled for August 23rd where Samsung will take wraps off their latest phablet device, Galaxy Note 8.

Sure, the media event is only a few days from now – 11 days to be exact. However, it’s worth noting that leaks and rumors are still going strong as it used to be a while ago. Also, Google Trends graph makes me want to believe that everyone has apparently forgotten about all the fiasco that Galaxy Note 7 generated last year. They just want their favorite smartphone maker to release the next iteration of the popular Galaxy Note series. Based on Google Trends data, the average monthly searches for the forthcoming Galaxy Note 8 is somewhere around 500,000.

While there are several reasons to be excited about the Note 8, the feature that easily made us most intrigued about the handset is the brand new design it is said to pack. Speaking of which, we already saw the new all-screen front (Infinity display) design of the forthcoming handset in a plethora of leaks in the form of renders and live pictures. So, it’s safe to assume that we already know everything there is to know about the phone.

The front side of the handset looks similar to the current S-series flagship, the Galaxy S8. The screen covers the majority of the front, with very narrow bezels running along the top and bottom. Also, the display appears curved along the longer sides, which again, hints at a design similar to the Galaxy S8.

Again, there aren’t any major noticeable changes made on the rear side compared to the S8, except that the single 12MP camera setup has now been replaced with a dual camera setup featuring a 12MP telephoto lens and a 13MP wide-angle lens. Further, the rear camera will reportedly provide 3x Zoom capabilities. Besides, Samsung has ported one of the worst features of Galaxy S8 on to the Note 8 – fingerprint sensor’s location. It is still present on the rear side of the handset very close to the camera sensors. That means whenever you reach for the sensor, your fingers could end up settling over the camera sensors. And, that’s incredibly frustrating!

A GeekBench listing has confirmed that the Note 8 should come powered by either the Snapdragon 835 or the Exynos 8895 based on your country. Apart from that, the device will feature 6GB of RAM and at least 64GB of storage on board. Unfortunately, the device won’t have Android 8.0 ‘O’ on board, instead, it’ll run Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. Besides that, the phablet should pack other features including an S-Pen, Samsung DeX compatibility, and Bixby integration.

On the performance side of things, we are not expecting the Galaxy Note 8 to have a dramatic change when compared to the Galaxy S8. The processor used should be just the same, although there’s a slight bump in the case of RAM size: 6GB vs 4GB. But, that itself won’t bring any major improvements over the speed of the handset, nevertheless, multitasking could become more creamy.

The Galaxy Note 8 will launch on August 23 at an Unpacked event in New York City. It is tipped to be available in three color variants – Black, Orchid Gray, and Deep Blue. The much-anticipated phone of the year should be available to the consumers worldwide in a few weeks following the launch event.
