Samsung Galaxy Note FE is now official. So, we are doing a Galaxy Note FE vs Galaxy Note 7 comparison test to let you know the differences between the two handsets.

Yesterday, Samsung Galaxy Note FE was officially announced by popular South Korean carrier LG U+. In case you didn’t know, Galaxy Note FE (aka Galaxy Note 7R) is actually a refurbished and hopefully explosion proof variant of the original Galaxy Note 7. So, it’s safe to assume that the hardware specifications of both these devices will be just the same. However, that isn’t the case. According to reports, Samsung had to compromise on the hardware side of the refurbished device in order to ensure that the upcoming device won’t face a similar fate as that of Note 7.

So, what are the differences between Galaxy Note FE and Galaxy Note 7? Well, there aren’t too many. But, compromises are compromises; and it is up to you to decide whether you should wait for the forthcoming Galaxy Note 8 or settle for this refurbished phone.

Galaxy Note FE vs Galaxy Note 7: The differences?

    Battery

It is almost confirmed that the Note FE will be carrying a smaller capacity battery, compared to the Note 7. One of the main issues that caused last year’s Note 7 to explode was manufacturing defects in its battery. So, this time Samsung is not taking a chance again; and thus settling for a safer and smaller capacity battery. The refurbished variant will probably house a 3,200 mAH battery inside, against the 3,500 mAh battery on Note 7.

    Display Resolution

To supplement the life of a smaller capacity battery, the Korean tech giant has reportedly fitted the Note FE with a FullHD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display, opposed to the beautiful QuadHD (1440 x 2560 pixels) display on previous year’s Note 7. This is a huge letdown, but for those who prefer battery life over a high-res display, this wouldn’t a huge bummer. Since a 1080p display doesn’t suck too much juice from the battery, a longer battery life for other activities is ensured. And, that’s a good thing. However, if you are a VR guy, you better not buy this device!

    Price

Although the official price of the Note FE is not known as of now, few sources suggested that it will be priced around KRW 700,000 that translates to $610. That is around $240 less expensive than the Note 7 that was launched in August last year for $850.

So, those are the differences between the two phablets. Are you excited for the Note FE, or just meh? Let us know in the comments if you are planning to get this phone, or just wait for the Note 8 to go official?
