Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus devices are receiving the April security patch update.
Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus users are finally getting the security patch updates for the month of April. For a security patch, the new update is pretty hefty at 570MB but brings a lot of improvements to the table.
Per the changelog, the new update is said to improve the stability of camera, Bluetooth, and WiFi. As with every security patch update, this one fixes seven critical Android vulnerabilities and eight vulnerabilities in Samsung’s software. Besides, you can also expect to see an overall improvement in performance and battery life of the two devices.
The new software update comes with build numbers G950FXXU1CRD7 and G955FXXU1CRD7 for Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus respectively.
Since the update is rolling over-the-air (OTA), it may take a while before it hits your device. However, if waiting is not your thing, you can always look for them manually by visiting Settings → Software Update → Download updates manually.
Needless to say, it’s important that you do a backup of all your important files before going for the update for obvious reasons. Also, make sure it has at least 50% charge left prior to clicking the update button.
As a recap, the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus feature a 5.8-inch and a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED QHD+ display respectively. Other specs include Snapdragon 835 chipset (or Exynos 8895, based on your region), 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, 12MP rear camera, 8MP front-facing camera, and 3000mAh battery. The S8 Plus is available in 6GB RAM, 128GB storage variant as well.
