In case you own an Xperia XZ2 / XZ2 Compact smartphone, you should probably update the Google app right now!

Google Lens, for the uninitiated, is Google‘s AI and AR platform that lets you parse text and identify objects, landmarks, and pretty much anything you point the camera at. The feature comes pre-installed inside the Google Assistant, but if you’re lucky enough, the feature may as well be present in your device’s native camera app. And now, if you own an Xperia XZ2 or Xperia XZ2 Compact, it’s time to update the Google app on your phone to get the feature up and running in its default camera app.

It’s worth noting that the update is only rolling in stages, and you may or may not get the new feature, depending on your region. Also, as TechRadar notes, the Google Lens has not hit the perfection levels just yet, and at least for now, the feature supports only a handful of languages including English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, and Italian.

Sony also confirmed that Xperia XZ2 Premium will have the feature pre-installed when it is up for grabs.

In case you wanna learn more about Google Lens, keep going for the video from Verge:

Abhin’s love for all things tech started when he got his first smartphone, Galaxy S (the first), in 2010. Since then, he has been crazy about technology and tried out all major Android flagships from Samsung, and HTC. He currently uses a Google Pixel 4a as his daily driver.
