It appears that Google’s answer to Amazon Echo Show, the Google Nest Hub Max, now has a release date. Launched back at the I/O in May, the search engine giant has mostly been mum about the smart display ever since. But, folks over at Droid-Life was lucky enough to take a screenshot of a Google support page showcasing the Nest Hub Max to go on sale starting from September 9 in Australia, UK, and the US. It’s worth noting that Google has since changed the product description of the device and now it just says “Coming Soon”.
It’s not clear whether this was a mistake made by a Google intern (probably?) or if the company has plans to start shipping the smart display from September 9th. In any case, we’ll know for sure come September 9 which is still more than a month away from now.
In case you didn’t know, Google Nest Hub Max is a bigger variant of the original Nest Hub and comes with a 10-inch screen with a display resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. There is a 6.5MP camera on the front that offers a 127-degree field of view and auto framing. Other features include a massive speaker system consisting of 2 x 18mm 10W tweeters and 1 x 75mm 30W subwoofer, and a far-field microphone. For added privacy, the device also comes with a physical switch on the rear which, if turned on, shuts off both microphone and front-facing camera. As for connectivity, there is WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, and Chromecast built-in.
A Google Nest Hub Max will set you back $229 in the United States, £219 in the United Kingdom, AUD349 in Australia. Besides online availability, the device will also be available through US-based retail outlets including Target, Best Buy, and Home Depot.
