It’s an open secret that Google is working on their next generation Pixel smartphones – Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 – which should launch sometime in September this year. While we have seen a pretty good number of leaks revealing the alleged design and specs of these devices, it’s worth noting that none of them has come directly from the horse’s mouth. It’s pretty common to see popular case makers leak design renders of an upcoming smartphone with their case on it. Now if you’re wondering how do they get to know these details even before the official launch of the device, well let me tell you this. Smartphone companies send a final prototype of their forthcoming device to third party case makers on an agreement that they shouldn’t leak any details regarding the device. This way, the companies can have products ready for the phones, as soon as they are released in the market. But, at times, these case makers jump the gun and leak renders, specs or even the complete design of the handset. Such leaks could help these companies gain popularity among the tech enthusiasts, and as a result, could boost their sales when the phone finally goes on sale.

While I was on Amazon.com to purchase a case for my Google Pixel, I was startled to see the e-tailer already selling cases for the next generation Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 – two Android smartphones that have not launched yet. A case maker named “LK” is selling the product on the website for an incredibly cheap price of $7.99. Now, we don’t know if that’s a legit product or not, nor are we going to try it for ourselves. But, the deal indeed sounds sweet and the seller seems to have sold over hundreds of thousands of accessories online with amazing customer appraisal.

While the renders designed by LK indeed looks promising and features a similar design we’ve seen in previous leaks, there is something more that this case maker is trying to convince us – Google will retain the 3.5mm headphone jack. Contrary to previously leaked renders courtesy of Onleaks, this so-called case for the Google Pixel 2 device does have a cut out for the industry-standard audio jack on the top. I’m pretty sure this news would bring smiles on the faces of many hardcore Android fans who were disappointed to hear that the much-anticipated smartphone of this year would come featuring one of the worst features of Apple iPhone.

Google’s forthcoming Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 smartphones are expected to launch sometime in September this year. The devices are already making rounds in the rumors for their brand new all-screen front display and the integration of the most powerful yet-to-launch Snapdragon 836 chipset and 6GB of RAM. Overall, both the “Made by Google” phones are shaping up to be the biggest releases of 2017, and could likely pose a competition against the current flagship leader Galaxy S8.
