American ‘Un-carrier’ T-Mobile is working on multiple fronts to consolidate its position in the market vis-à-vis key competitors like Verizon and AT&T. Apart from working on a war footing to roll out its new 600MHz LTE network, the company is also eyeing collaborations and tie-ups to offer its customers more well-rounded services. As part of this initiative, the service provider has entered into an exclusive partnership with Netflix, bundling streaming subscriptions with its wireless package.

As part of the deal, that is being called ‘Netflix On Us’, those using the T-Mobile ONE family plan will get a monthly Netflix subscription for free. The network’s new deal is on lines of the AT&T tie-up with HBO, where HBO’s streaming services are made available to network’s Unlimited Plus plan customers.

So how is T-Mobile’s offer really different from others in the market? Is ‘Netflix on Us’ the stream dream customers have been waiting for? Here is everything you need to know:

Netflix on Us

The deal essentially means that all customers on T-Mobile ONE family plan with two or more qualifying lines will get access to a Netflix plan worth $9.99, and the accompanying HD streaming, for free. Now say, a user wants to stream in 4k on more than two devices simultaneously, they can upgrade to the $11.99 at an additional charge of $2 in their monthly plan. The same principle applies for all the subsequent subscription plans on Netflix.

Is Netflix on Us for Everyone?

No. It is exclusively catered to the T-Mobile One family plan customer base and not applicable for other plans such as T-Mobile @Work, T-Mobile ONE Unlimited 55+ tax inclusive, T-Mobile ONE Voice with a single line, T-Mobile ONE 2 lines for $100 tax inclusive and prepaid.

Is ‘Netflix on Us’ good enough to warrant a switch?

Well, the answer to that is very, very subjective. If you are already on the One family plan, it’s a win-win. If not, it is still a great deal for those who enjoy a good dose of entertainment but won’t need more than two lines. Those who rely heavily on the streaming service, using it on multiple devices at once, may still be able to save $9.99 on their current subscription plan and get mobile services in the bargain too. The bottom line is – Netflix on Us can turn out be one helluva bargain for the average user.
