Embrace OnePlus fans, the Chinese firm is rolling out yet another update for its latest flagship, the OnePlus 5.

It has been a little over three months since the Chinese manufacturer rolled out its latest flagship phone, the OnePlus 5, and several updates for its operating system have already been rolled out. The latest of these is a firmware update rolled out in the form of OxygenOS 4.5.12 version, designed to bring new fixes to the flagship device.

What’s up with the new OnePlus 5 update?

The update was released over the past weekend and is being rolled out to OnePlus 5 users over-the-air in a phased manner. Just last week, the smartphone had received an updated OxygenOS 4.5.11 version of its operating system that aimed to fix certain bugs and enhance the overall performance of the handset. With these two updates released so close together, it is interesting to note that the company is upping the ante in terms of performance and customer satisfaction, perhaps with an eye on the release of its next flagship phone – the OnePlus 5T or OnePlus 6 – rumored to be released in November.

The OxygenOS 4.5.12 update addressed bugs such as missing Download app icon in the 4.5.11 versions, besides bringing in additional features such as customized notification ringtones and improving app launch speed. The update also seeks to fix the issue of an error on YouTube where users complained of the video lagging behind the audio, in addition to the display issues related to certain UI elements in the handset. It also brings in corrective measures to fix the lack of 4G+ accessibility in some regions.

Since the update is being rolled out in an incremental fashion, users can hope to receive a software update notification over the next few days. In keeping with this trend of frequent updates, OnePlus 5 users can hope to receive an Android 8.0 Oreo update in the next few days, as the images of the handset sporting the new Android OS have been doing the rounds on the internet lately.
