If the latest OnePlus 5T “leaked” render is true, then Samsung’s Galaxy S8 might have a surprise new rival in the making.
A newly leaked render of OnePlus 5T shows a design similar to the Galaxy S8. Just when we thought OnePlus won’t release an improved OnePlus 5 variant anytime soon, a recent report has come out of nowhere hinting that a 5T is indeed in the making. Rumors surrounding the OnePlus 5T has gained momentum as the phone has run out of stocks in major markets across the globe.
According to the report, OnePlus might launch the 5T sometime in November this year. This launch date pretty much echoes with that of last year’s OnePlus 3T, which was an incremental upgrade over its predecessor. Besides that, the 5T will feature an all-screen edge-to-edge design and IP68 water and dust certification. Here’s the leaked render (via Slashleaks):
It’s worth noting that, besides the addition of a full-screen design and IP certification, the OnePlus 5T will only be an incremental upgrade over the OnePlus 5. It’ll come packed with the same Snapdragon 835 processor, 6/8GB RAM, 64/128GB storage and dual-16MP rear cameras. In terms of software, it’ll likely run Android 8.0 Oreo with OxygenOS v4.5.12 out of the box.
In terms of software, it’ll likely run Android 8.0 Oreo with OxygenOS v4.5.12 out of the box. Unlike the OP5, the fingerprint reader on the 5T should be on the rear as most of the space up front is reserved for the screen.
If OnePlus manages to pull a 5T later this year with a pricing similar to that of its current flagship, then it would definitely give other popular flagships in the market, including the Galaxy S8, LG G6, and Galaxy Note 8, a good run for their money.
And if you are planning to buy a OnePlus 5 anytime soon, we suggest you take a step back and wait until the end of this year to see what OnePlus has in store for us with the 5T.
