All details you want to know about the upcoming Redmi Note 5 including its specifications, pricing, and release date.
Unsurprisingly, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 has turned out to be a smashing success in Asian countries especially India and China. The company has reportedly sold over 300,000 units in India within just a time span of 8 months since launch. However, the phone has become a year old now, and it’s almost time for the company to launch its successor: the Redmi Note 5. As is the case with every famous upcoming phone, the specifications, and pictures of the Redmi Note 5 have leaked multiple times on the Internet, revealing almost everything there is to know about the device.
First discovered by igeekphone, we now have a bunch of leaked presentation slides from the Chinese company revealing the complete information regarding the Redmi Note 5. So, let’s move on the slide one by one and find out what the company has in store for us this year.
Design
One of the leaked slides suggests that the Redmi Note 5 will retain the same 5.5-inch FullHD (1080 x 1920 pixels) display as the Redmi Note 4. But, unlike the current generations that sport rear-mounted fingerprint sensors, the forthcoming phone will come with a fingerprint sensor below the display, which can probably double as a physical home button. Apart from that, we couldn’t find any notable differences in terms of design between the two phones, however, the bezels of the upcoming phone are expected to be smaller than that of the current Redmi Note 4.
Camera
If the leaks are to be believed, then it seems like Xiaomi is raising the camera quality on the upcoming Redmi Note 5. As per the leak, the Redmi Note 5 will have a dual camera setup in the back, consisting of two 16MP sensors with f/2.0 aperture. And for selfies, it is said to pack a 13MP snapper on the front.
Hardware Specifications
As far as the specs are concerned, the Redmi Note 5 is tipped to be powered by either Snapdragon 630 or Snapdragon 660 processor. The Chinese company will probably pick the latter for their next Redmi Note phone as it is more powerful than the former; thanks to Kyro cores.
Similar to previous generations, the Redmi Note 5 will allegedly come with three storage variants: 3GB RAM plus 32GB storage, 4GB RAM plus 64GB storage and 4GB RAM plus 128GB storage.
Battery
While the Redmi Note 4 was powered by a 4100 mAh battery, the Redmi Note 5 is tipped to come with a much smaller 3790 mAh battery. However, the power-efficient processor and QuickCharge 3.0 feature should do the trick and provide excellent battery life.
Pricing and Release date
As mentioned earlier, the handset will come in three storage variants, including 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, 4GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. As is the case with every Redmi phones, the Note 5 is also rumored to carry pocket-friendly price tags. Speaking of which, the base variant will be priced at CNY 1200 that translates to $175, while the other two variants are tipped to cost CNY 1400 ($205) and CNY 1500 ($220) respectively.
Speaking of the release date, the Redmi Note 5 is rumored to debut towards the end of this month, i.e, July 2017. However, it should be noted that no official source confirming the launch date has surfaced so far. So, it’s better to take it with a pinch of salt.
