When it comes to bang for your bucks, there is no other company that comes close to Xiaomi. The Chinese company has had managed to grab a good chunk of market share in most of the Asian markets. The firm’s popular handset series – Redmi Note – undoubtedly offers the best features and specs you can get on a smartphone. And, that too, at a very low price tag. While their mid-tier flagship killer Redmi Note 5 may not launch anytime soon, a cheaper variant of the handset – Redmi Note 5A – could possibly make it to the markets sometime this month.
The Redmi Note 5A has just visited TENAA, and now we know what Xiaomi has in store for us. It’s essentially a low-end device, but with decent specs and reasonable price tag. According to the listing, the handset should be available in nine interesting color variants, including Black, Rose Gold, Gold, White, Blue, Red, Pink, Gray, and Silver.
It’s a 5.5-inch device with an HD display (720p) resolution. Going by the looks, the new handset looks pretty much like its previous generation Redmi Note 4A. Although the details about the processor that would power the Note 5A is not mentioned in the listing, we know it could be either the Snapdragon 630 or the 660; thanks to the latest rumors.
Apart from that, it should have 2GB of RAM and run the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. The storage is 16GB, but you don’t have to worry about memory woes as it comes with a microSD slot.
If the rumors are true, Xiaomi will likely launch the handset on 21st August. Also, several rumors have pointed out the pricing on the forthcoming device to be around CNY 999, that translates to about $150. It’s nice to see big manufacturers like Xiaomi still working on cheap handsets, thus helping to diversify the smartphone market.
