Sony Xperia XZ2 tablets will likely run Google’s Chrome OS out of the box, as per a reliable tipster.

This week, we heard reports (courtesy of SumahoInfo) of two potential Sony Xperia XZ2 tablets that could likely launch this year. The report suggested that the tablets will come in two display sizes — an 8-inch model and a larger 10-inch model. Besides the display sizes, the report did not reveal much information about the devices back then. However, thanks to a reliable tipster, we now know that these tablets will not run Google’s most popular mobile operating system, Android. Instead, they will follow the same suit as the Acer Chromebook Tab 10 and run Google’s Chrome OS out of the box.

The tipster told Android Marvel that, besides the differences in display size, both the tablets will feature similar hardware specs. Though the source did not shed light on the potential specs of the devices, we expect them to house Qualcomm’s high-end Snapdragon 845 chipset and pack at least 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

Needless to say, as with such rumors, we would advise you to take these details with the proverbial pinch of salt.
