Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 appears on GeekBench 4, beats A9 in single core score

Qualcomm may not launch Snapdragon 845 anytime soon, but it’s already making headlines after allegedly beating Apple’s A9 chipset in GeekBench4 single core test.

With the launch of Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and LG V30, this year was amazing for all the popular smartphone manufacturers. Samsung introduced Infinity Edge display, Apple is expected to use OLED for the very first time, introduction of 10nm processors, FullScreen display on mid range smartphones and much more. This year literally changed the way we see and use smartphones.

In every single flagship device, you will definitely find Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC processor. I mean every single year Qualcomm is able to pull off a top of the line chipset.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 is still making its way to the market while the leaks of the next flagship processor surface online.

Snapdragon 845 appeared in its First Benchmark

According to the recent reports, Qualcomm’s next gen processor appears on GeekBench 4 listing. We have its first ever alleged benchmark scores with us.

For Android, having as many cores as possible on the processor without affecting power draw is the main deal. Apple, on the other hand, wants their processor to be small as much as they can. This difference clearly shows in their respective Benchmark scores.

Apple is leading the Single core scores since a long time. Qualcomm or any other Android processor is no way near it until now. According to the leaks, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 single core score is more than 2600. Apple’s A9 chipset has scored around 2500 and that too at very best. Qualcomm’s score is clearly more than that of A9 chipset making SD845 the first processor to lead the pack.

Snapdragon 845 allegedly beats Apple A9 chip scoring much higher than the latter in GeekBench4 Single core test, according to renowned smartphone leaker, Ice_Universe

One thing which you should know is that Apple’s A9 is not the latest offering by the brand. In fact, this chipset is being used in iPhone 6S. Apple is currently planning to introduce A11 chipset which makes A9 considerably outdated.

Major gap between Apple and Android chipsets

Apple’s current offering A10 fusion scores 3000+ easily which still Qualcomm has to beat. On top of that, Apple is planning to introduce the 10nm A11 with next week’s iPhone launch. This again will set the bar way high for Qualcomm or any other Android chipset manufacturers.

This clearly indicates the major gap between in the performance between Apple’s and Android chipsets. In single core performance, Qualcomm is somewhat lagging behind the Apple.

With Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, now the gap between Apple A series and Snapdragon reduces to 2 years. It is a good thing for Qualcomm since beating Apple in single core processor is not a piece of cake.

Looking at the trend, you can expect the introduction of the SD845 processor with the launch of Samsung’s next flagship device i.e Galaxy S9. Again, considering some other rumors, Galaxy S9 launch could happen in February 2018.

It will be a great start for the Qualcomm with SD 845. I am pretty excited to see more flagship processors by the brand and of course their GeekBench score and how they try to reduce this major gap in single core performance.
