Even though its smartphone business is failing terribly, Sony is not ready to give up its Xperia brand. In fact, the tech giant is all set to launch a bunch of Xperia phones at an MWC press event scheduled on February 24. We’re expecting to see multiple 5G phones from Sony including the Xperia 3 that we reported about late last year.

It is safe to assume that we know pretty much everything there is to know about the Xperia 3. It’s been revealed through a filed patent that the handset will feature minimal bezels and hole-punch display. Needless to say, that’s a first for a Sony Xperia device. Other than that, we also know the potential specs of the device thanks to a GeekBench listing.

According to the listing, the Xperia 3 will come with flagship specs including Snapdragon 865 chipset and up to 12GB RAM. With SD865 being a 5G-supported chipset, the Xperia 3 will be the first Sony smartphone with 5G connectivity onboard. Other expected specs include a 6.6-inch 4K HDR display, 6 rear cameras, and 3500mAh battery.

We’re also hearing rumors about a second flagship handset — probably a compact variant — called Sony Xperia 5 Plus (or could be the Xperia 1.1). It is also said to come with the same Snapdragon 865 chipset and thus should sport 5G connectivity. When it comes to photography, it is said to feature five rear camera sensors. This includes a 64MP primary sensor, two 12MP sensors, a periscope unit, and a 2MP ToF sensor.

Besides the two flagship models, we also expect to see at least one mid-range Xperia phone as a successor to last year’s Xperia 10. It could very well be the Sony Xperia 6 that was spotted on GeekBench late last year. The listing has revealed that the device could come with Snapdragon 765G chipset, 8GB RAM, and 5G connectivity.

That’s all we know as of now, but we promise to keep you updated as new details emerge.

Abhin’s love for all things tech started when he got his first smartphone, Galaxy S (the first), in 2010. Since then, he has been crazy about technology and tried out all major Android flagships from Samsung, and HTC. He currently uses a Google Pixel 4a as his daily driver.
