Sony has temporarily paused the Android 7.0 Nougat updates for Xperia XA and XA Ultra smartphones, due to performance inconsistencies related to the OTA delivery system.
Around two weeks ago, Sony announced that they would be rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat updates for the Xperia XA and XA Ultra devices. However, the smartphone maker has halted the process, at least for now, in order to fix issues that caused performance inconsistencies related to the over-the-air delivery system.
However, the company has assured that the update roll out will begin “as soon as possible”, once the problems are fixed. But, the exact dates are not announced, as of now. In addition, they also made it clear that those devices that already received the update will not face any detrimental impact on performance or loss of existing data.
Sony’s statement on pulled Nougat update:
“We’ve temporarily paused the Android 7.0 upgrade for Xperia XA and Xperia XA Ultra due to minor performance inconsistencies related to the over-the-air delivery system. Regardless of whether a user has been able to successfully run the upgrade or not, there is no detrimental impact on device performance or loss of existing user data. We’re aiming to re-commence the rollout as soon as possible with a seamless upgrade experience for all users, and will provide a further update in due course.”
