Rumors and leaks surrounding the next Sony flagship Xperia XZ1 is popping every now and then; it has indeed become difficult to keep track of each of them. However, the latest one to hit the rumor mill is rather interesting than the rest and hints at one of the key specs of the device. Plus, it indirectly suggests that the upcoming Xperia XZ1 handset could be better than the current best flagship Galaxy S8.
The leak originates from a popular Japanese website called AndroPlus. The website claims to have exclusively found out the code name of XZ1 to be “TAMA”, which in the Japanese language means “high end of a river”. Further, the website also suggests that the smartphone could likely feature the Snapdragon 836 chipset, instead of the rumored Snapdragon 835 chipset. To compare, the Galaxy S8 features the Snapdragon 835 chipset on board, along with 4GB of RAM.
If true, the new chipset would possibly help Sony boost up the sales of the forthcoming handset. In fact, integration of a more powerful chipset like Snapdragon 836 inside the XZ1 could help it perform better than the Galaxy S8 with Snapdragon 835 chipset. There are also other rumors that it would come with a brand new design and run Android 8.0 ‘O’ out of the box.
Sony‘s upcoming phones, Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact are shaping up to be two of the hottest Android phones of this year, with a new all-screen front design and top-of-the-line specifications.
Sony is expected to launch three new Xperia phones, allegedly Xperia XZ1, Xperia XZ1 Compact and Xperia X1, a day before the debut of IFA 2017.
The high-end flagship, Xperia XZ1, will give a stiff competition to the Galaxy S8, if rumors are to be believed. In addition to that, it could also affect the sales of Samsung’s upcoming phablet Galaxy Note 8.
From what we know so far, other possible specs of Xperia XZ1 handset include a 5.2-inch display, 4GB RAM, 64/128GB storage, and 3000 mAh battery. Besides, the price of the handset is rumored to be around $860 when it goes on sale following the launch at IFA 2017.
