Sony Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact camera distortion fix have arrived!

Sony Mobile is now rolling out a new firmware update to their latest flagship offerings – Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact. The update bumps the software build version from 47.1.A.2.374 to 47.1.A.5.51.

Weighing in at 396.2MB, the new update fixes the camera distortion issue on the latest Xperia XZ1 models. Besides that, the update also installs the latest November Android security patch on the said handsets.

Since the software update is being rolled over-the-air, it may take a while before it hits your device. However, you can always check for it manually by visiting Settings -> About Phone -> Software updates.

After updating your device, you have to check the “Correction for image distortion” box under the Camera settings for the trick to work.

It was only three weeks ago that Sony fixed the camera distortion issue on the XZ Premium devices. The fix was included in the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the handset.

To do a recap, the Xperia XZ1 comes with a 5.2-inch FullHD display, Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, 19MP rear camera, 13MP front-facing camera and a 2700mAh battery.

On the other hand, the XZ1 Compact features a 4.6-inch FullHD display, Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, 19MP rear camera, 8MP front-facing camera and a 2700mAh battery.
