Sony Mobile on Wednesday revealed the price of their latest flagship phone, the Xperia XZ2 Premium. The new premium offering from the Japanese firm will set you back $999.99 on both Amazon and Best Buy.
The $1000 price tag makes the XZ2 Premium the most expensive Xperia phone released thus far. For the sake of comparison, Sony’s first flagship handset of 2018 — Xperia XZ2 — is currently retailing for $800 on Amazon US and other online stores.
The Verge confirms that the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium will start shipping from July 30th in the United States. The availability of the handset outside of the country, however, is still a mystery.
Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium specs and features
The Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium rocks a beautiful 5.8-inch 4K display upfront, which is a massive upgrade over the 5.7-inch Full HD+ display on the original Xperia XZ Premium. Other specs include octa-core Snapdragon 845 processor, 6GB RAM, 64GB of storage, and 3540mAh battery.
The main highlight of the device, however, is the dual camera setup on the rear. The dual rear camera setup houses a 19MP color sensor with f1.8 aperture and a 12MP black-and-white sensor with f1.6 aperture.
The rear camera is capable of shooting 960fps slow-motion videos at 1080p resolution. Besides that, it can shoot still pictures with an ISO as high as 51,200 and videos at a maximum of 12,800 without looking any bit grainy thanks to the new AUBE fusion image signal processor.
The front-facing camera is a 13MP sensor with f2.0 aperture.
