T-Mobile Galaxy S8 and S8+ users are receiving July security patch updates over-the-air (OTA) with firmware version G955USQU1AQGA.

T-Mobile is rolling out the security patch updates for the month of July to their Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones. The update is currently seeding over-the-air (OTA), so it may take a while before it reaches your device. However if waiting is not your thing, you can manually check for them by visiting Settings -> About Phone -> Check for Updates.

According to SamMobile, the update comes with fixes for 65 Common Vulnerabilities and Exposure (CVE) in the Android OS. Besides that, it also provides fixes for about 16 exploits found in Samsung’s own software. So, it is highly recommended that you update your phone to the latest security patch version. That will keep the device protected from viruses, malware, and hackers.

After the update, the firmware version will bump from G950USQU1AQGA to G955USQU1AQGA. It is a relatively small update, weighing around 130MB in size, however, we recommend that you update over WiFi to save data charges.

Along with several bug fixes, the new update will also help improve the overall performance of your smartphone. T-Mobile states that the new firmware release also includes the UMTS 911 update.
