Xiaomi Mi 6 was already a super budget phone, and a new report suggests that the device might get an even more affordable variant with 4GB of RAM.
When it comes to bang for your buck, Xiaomi, OnePlus and Huawei are the only few names that come to our mind first. These manufacturers have a long history of producing smartphones that won’t cost you a leg and an arm. The lower price points of their products don’t mean they are sub-par with the expensive options in the market. For instance, Xiaomi’s latest flagship offering, Xiaomi Mi 6 is, in fact, a cheaper version of the Galaxy S8, so to speak.
Both the Galaxy S8 and the Xiaomi Mi 6 share similar specs, but it’s worth noting that the former is at least $250 more expensive than the latter. The Mi 6, launched back in April this year, did not get a global launch for some unknown reason. The firm chose to sell the device only in Chinese markets, thus disappointing their large fan base in India and the United States.
However, it looks like Xiaomi is now working on a 4GB RAM variant of the device to launch in the left-out markets. As I have mentioned earlier, this will be more like a budget-friendly variant of the original Mi 6 that actually sported 6GB RAM on board. Besides the obvious increase in the RAM size, all the other hardware specs of the new device will remain just the same as the original variant. According to the TENAA listing, the new Mi 6 variant will feature the same Snapdragon 835 chipset, dual-13MP camera, 8MP front camera, and 3350 mAh battery. Also, it is said to run Android 7.1.1 Nougat out od the box.
Although the exact price and release date of the device are unknown as of now, GSMArena suggests that it could probably set you back around $350. The smartphone might launch sometime in November this year.
