It’s been around five months since Xiaomi revealed the Mi 6 at an event in China. Xiaomi Mi 6 was dubbed as the flagship device by the company and it was the brand’s first smartphone to come with dual rear camera setup. Recently, Xiaomi also unveiled their second gen Mi Mix 2 alongside Mi Note 3.

Now, it’s time to wait for the company’s new incoming flagship device which most likely is going to be the Xiaomi Mi 7. We have the first rumor or leak of this upcoming smartphone and that too straight from China. We now know about the expected launch timeline as well as a little sneak peak on the specification of the device.

    Xiaomi Mi7 leaked specifications

According to a post on Weibo, Xiaomi Mi 7 might come with the next-gen flagship processor by Qualcomm. Yes, I am talking about Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 which was recently spotted on GeekBench 4 beating Apple A9 in single core score.

Other flagship smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S9 is also going to sport this processor so we can expect Xiaomi to follow the same lead.

Talking about the display, Xiaomi might just go for bigger display this time. The leak suggests that Xiaomi Mi 7 will arrive with a larger 6-inch full HD AMOLED display from Samsung opposed to the 5.15-inch FullHD display on the Mi 6. Xiaomi is not only planning to change the display size here but also the screen panel.

    It’s time for a bezel-less display!

I was expecting a lot from Xiaomi Mi 6 this year but instead, they just changed the on-paper specification, put in a dual rear camera and copied the same old design again. In addition to that, they didn’t launch the smartphone in the Indian market, which is funny because India is apparently their biggest market.

With Xiaomi Mi 7, I am expecting to see a bezel-less display since most of the flagship smartphones come with it. Speaking of, Xiaomi and OnePlus are the only prominent brands which are yet to master the new impressive design model. So yes, a fewer bezel display with 18:9 aspect ratio is a must in Xiaomi’s next flagship device.

Xiaomi Mi 7 launch date and pricing

If recent reports are to be believed, Xiaomi Mi 7 will most likely arrive in the first quarter of next year. If you look at the company’s previous launch timeline, Q1 seems to be a false alarm. On the other hand, Xiaomi might want to take the lead from the beginning of the year just like LG did with their G6.

Samsung is also planning to launch their next flagship smartphone in Q1 2018 which will also arrive with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. Now, you might be wondering if Xiaomi Mi 7 would be the first handset in 2017 to feature the yet-to-launch chipset? Well, we’ll have to wait until next year to find out about that.

Unfortunately, Xiaomi Mi 6 didn’t make its way to the Indian market this year. I hope that will not be the case with Xiaomi Mi 7.

In other news, Samsung is planning to go for a bendable display with their next Galaxy Note device – presumably the Galaxy Note 9. It’s worth noting that Xiaomi also has a patent on some sort of bendable smartphone. Well, this could mean that the Chinese tech firm might also be working on a foldable handset like Samsung. But, make no mistake: that’s definitely not going to be the Mi 6.
