This Xperia XZ1 vs Galaxy S8 Plus speed test video will change your opinion about Galaxy S8 being the fastest smartphone on the planet.

In 2017, the smartphone market is as competitive as ever, and it has become rare for a smartphone maker to tick all the right boxes when it comes to making flagship smartphone. However, Samsung with its 2017-flagship devices, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, showed to this world how it could bring make a breakthrough in the industry. It featured an avant-garde all-screen design and all the high-end specs expected of a 2017 flagship device.

Sony, on the other hand, chose to stick on with its tried-and-tested old school design with huge bezels running along the sides of the display. In our review roundup, we told you how their all-new handset Xperia XZ1 failed to impress us and most reviewers out there. There’s nothing new in terms of design. In fact, the Japanese firm has been recycling the same old design for quite some time now, and that has kinda turned boring now.

However, we’re not here to bash about Sony’s boring design. Sorry, not today! We have a much more interesting news that would make Samsung fans bash me in the comment section. Simply put, Sony fans are in for an amazing treat today.

Firstly, let me tell you this: I’m not a huge fan of the so-called unceasing “speed tests” that keeps popping up on Youtube every now and then. Although I don’t support this sort of nonsense, it seems people kinda enjoy watching these videos and Youtubers never stop making them.

Just when we thought the Galaxy S8 was the fastest phone of 2017, this new speed test, put up by Phone Battles, proves that the Samsung Galaxy flagship comes nowhere near the Xperia XZ1 when it comes to performance. In terms of specs, both the phones feature similar hardware, including Snapdragon 835 processor, and 4GB RAM. So, my best bet is on Sony’s excellent software optimizations, though Samsung’s Experience UI isn’t any worse either. Whatever the case may be, you can check out the video for yourself below:

Abhin’s love for all things tech started when he got his first smartphone, Galaxy S (the first), in 2010. Since then, he has been crazy about technology and tried out all major Android flagships from Samsung, and HTC. He currently uses a Google Pixel 4a as his daily driver.
