A leaked picture suggests that Sony’s upcoming 2018 phone, Xperia XZ1 Premium/XZ2 Premium, might just look like an iPhone.

If you’ve been reading this site for a while, you probably already know that we are not big fans of Sony‘s age-old design. It’s just too ugly that even the hardcore Xperia fans feel embarrassed to take their device out of the pocket in public. However, if the recently leaked live pictures showcasing two upcoming Xperia phones — one of which is expected to be called either Xperia XZ1 Premium or XZ2 Premium — are any indication, then we believe Sony is all set to blow the competition out of water in 2018 with the debut of their first ever phone to feature slim bezels.

But, if you’re expecting the Xperia phones of 2018 to feature a brand new design, hold your horse right there! One of the phones, seen in the picture, looks like a blatant copy of an iPhone; if you’re looking at the rear, that is. It’s just an iPhone 8, or any iPhone for that matter. There’s also a dual camera setup, which is the first for a Sony handset so that the whole rear looks more iPhony than any Sony phones out there.

But hey, both the phones featured in the picture looks super gorgeous. And I wouldn’t care Sony copying the design elements from an iPhone if that would help them finally get rid of the four-year-old OmniBalance design. The main highlight of the devices, however, is the new design up front. If true, 2018 will see a series of Sony phones released featuring slim bezels and 18:9 display. Oh wait, how could I forget about the dual camera setup?

The leaked pictures suggest that Sony’s upcoming phones (Xperia XZ1 Premium/XZ2 Premium) will feature a dual camera setup — something we haven’t seen on any previously released Sony phones. The new Xperia handsets are expected to make their debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) trade show scheduled for February 26.

I’m all excited to see what Sony has in store for us come 2018. And, here is an honest hoping that they wouldn’t let their fans down for yet another year with some ugly-looking smartphones, again.
