Sony rolls out Android 7.1.1 Nougat OTA update to Xperia Z5 Compact, Z5 Premium, Z4 Tablet and Z3 Plus.
Sony has started rolling out Android 7.1.1 Nougat update for the Xperia Z5 family, including Z5 Compact and Z5 Premium, as well as the Z4 Tablet and Z3 Plus. The update also includes the security patches for the month of June and bumps the build number from 32.3.A.2.33 to 32.4.A.0.160.
The update is currently seeding over-the-air (OTA) to these devices. As with every OTA updates, it may take a while before it hits your device. However, you can check for updates manually by visiting Settings -> About Phone -> Check for updates.
The efforts taken by Sony is appreciable considering some of these devices receiving the update is over two years old. The update reportedly brings along several bug fixes and minor optimizations to these gadgets. After installing the update, you’ll find that the Android security patch level changes to June 1, 2017.
Once installed, these devices will receive all the goodies of the latest Android operating system. This includes Multi-Window support, which comes handy during multitasking. Besides that, it will also bring along slight improvements over the battery life. You’ll also receive a new feature called STAMINA mode which comes with three energy saving levels and automatically adjusts settings so as to improve the performance while keeping the device stay longer.
The Android 7.1.1 update will also let you share videos and other media files over the messaging app. Apart from that, it also introduces a new feature for the camera app called Timer Selfie Mode.
