I know you are all pumped up about the upcoming LG V30 and V30 Plus, and so are we. The new V-series flagships are touted to integrate the latest and most powerful hardware, a new design and much more. If there’s a department not much talked about in the rumors so far, it must be the new user interface (UI) that the new phones would boast. And apparently, we know about that too now; thanks to LG for jumping the gun and letting us know about their all-new UX 6.0+ beforehand.
We know that the launch event for the V30 and V30 Plus will happen in a few days. So, LG wants every smartphone enthusiasts on the planet to be excited about their new upcoming phones. Leaks have confirmed that the new V-series flagships will feature an all-screen front design, similar to the LG G6, or the Galaxy S8 for that matter. Therefore, the latest interface, UX 6.0+, is designed in a way that it perfectly fits the new OLED FullVision display.

So, what’s new about the UX 6.0+?
- Floating Bar: The main highlight of the brand new UI is the Floating Bar feature. Well, it’s basically a virtual replacement for the good ol’ secondary ticker, which used to be one of the iconic features of V line-ups. Speaking of the feature, it is a semi-transparent on-screen bar which shows all your recently used applications. And while you’re not using it, the Floating Bar minimizes to a small semi-circular icon on side of the display. Indeed, a nice feature to have, if you ask me!
- Always-on Display: A feature that is ported to the new flagships from the previous generations. But, LG has further improved the feature to include Quick Tools, Music player, camera, and much more, besides just displaying the time.
- Advanced security features: LG is also adding a couple of new security features on the upcoming phone. One of which is the Face Recognition feature that uses the front facing camera to unlock the phone. LG has also added that the feature should work even when the display is off and the user need not press the power button before using it. The other feature is Voice Recognition which uses input from user’s voice and self-generated keywords to unlock the phone. Plus, LG wants you not to worry about the battery usage of these features. It is powered by Qualcomm Aqstic voice UI technology for always-on, always-listening capabilities that require very little battery power.
- New camera features: The Korean firm has earlier confirmed that it has used a f/1.6 lens on one of the rear cameras, but never mentioned about the new software tweaks that will come along with it. With Graphy – a new feature – you can take professional shots even if you don’t know about the basics of photography. According to AndroidandMe, the new feature lets you view and download among from a large portfolio of professional photos and apply the metadata presets like white balance, shutter speed, and many more settings. Furthermore, there are other features such as auto, grid shot, snap shot, match shot, GIF creation and Create Movie option to make full use of the new camera hardware.
- Haptic Feedback customizations: To further emphasize the highly customizable nature of the new UX, LG mentions that even the haptic feedback can be modified by making use of included vibration combinations that can be matched to the phone’s ringtone.
LG V30 and V30 Plus will launch at a media event on August 31st, a day before the debut of IFA conference 2017 in Berlin.
