Samsung sends out new updates to Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge users.

Do you own a Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge smartphone? Well then, it’s time you’ve checked for new updates under Settings. Speaking of which, Samsung is currently rolling out a new firmware update to the two smartphones, which were released back in 2015.

While the update does not bring any new feature, it does come with security patches for the month of August. This is a recommended update as it keeps your device protected against malware and viruses.

Additionally, the latest update comes with build number G920TUES5EQH2 and G925W8VLS5DQH1 for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge respectively. Besides just strengthening the security, the update will also help improve the performance of the Galaxy S6 devices.

As is the case with any update, the August security patch update is being rolled out over-the-air (OTA). So, it may take a while before it finally reaches your device. However, if waiting is not your thing, you can always look for updates manually by visiting Settings -> About Device -> Software Updates.

Needless to say, it’s worth noting that your phone should have at least 50% of charge before opting to install the update. Also, make sure to do a complete backup of important data for obvious reasons. And while you are at it, switch to a stable Wi-Fi connection to avoid unnecessary data charges.

Samsung‘s Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge were launched in April 2015 with Exynos 7420 chipset powering these devices. Both the devices packed a 5.1-inch display, 3GB RAM, 16MP rear camera, and 5MP front-facing camera. The former came with a 2550 mAh battery, while the latter featured a slightly bigger 2600 mAh battery. Whilst the device is 2 years old now, it’s still holding pretty good when it comes to performance and design.

So, have you received the August security patch update on your device yet?
