You would be hard-press to think of a piece of technology that has had a more profound impact over the past decade than smartphones. They have everyone hooked, evident by statistics that show that there are 3.5 billion smartphone users in the world and that this number rises by 300 million each year.

Long gone are the days where people had to sit in front of a large PC screen to play games. Nowadays, everyone is on the lookout for the best mobile casinos that they can access from the palm of their hand. Estimates say that the number of mobile gamers is currently at 2.7 billion, and a good chunk of those are into playing games of chance. Studies show that over 60% of all bets made within the online gambling industry come from mobile devices. Thus, it is crystal clear that there is no stopping the rise of mobile gaming, and here is why:

    Accessibility

Our modern reality has taught us that people’s attention spans are not what they once were. According to Microsoft, it takes about eight seconds before our mind wanders off to the next thing. Therefore, it is clear that in time, fewer players will have the ability to sit behind a desk and play at online casinos.

Thanks to smartphone portability, their large screens, and wide-spread internet access, players can play games while at home, on a work break, or in transit. Ease of use is a major contributing factor to the rise in mobile casino traffic. The option to play from anywhere, at any time, will further condition players to crave this convenience and will make desktop gaming extinct.

    Advancing Smartphone Technology

As the smartphone brought about a shift to the gaming industry and fast-tracked its progress, now that we have a device that carries fantastic capabilities in our pocket, further advancements will only push the boundaries of what is possible.

Many expect VR gaming lounges to become a thing. Mobile devices currently may not be able to process such graphics and gameplay, but this is inevitable. They have already outgrown Flash, and most casinos now offer live games for mobile devices. Mobile no longer means lower quality, and things will only get better.

    New Demographics Adopting Mobile Play

The convenience aspect is one that no one should underestimate. Once the smartphone made everything easy, it opened the gambling market to new demographics, with people that could not bother with the tech side of things en route to experience the thrills of online gambling. But now, seeing as everything is easy and accessible, players of all sorts are joining in the fun, and the user-base is only growing.

Research shows that 64% of women prefer playing games via their mobile device, compared to 38% of men, who still do not rule out playing on desktop machines. There are also indications that women play for more extended periods than men, and that, older players get more easily drawn into mobile gambling.
