Sony is starting to roll out Android 10 update to Xperia 1 and Xperia 5 smartphones.

Just as promised last month, Sony is rolling out the latest Android 10 OS update to its 2019 flagship phones, namely Xperia 1 and Xperia 5. Sony has also promised that other Xperia models including Xperia 10, Xperia 10 Plus, Xperia XZ2, Xperia XZ2 Compact, Xperia XZ2 Premium, and Xperia XZ3 will receive the update sometime early next year.

The new update comes with the build version 55.1.A.0.748 and also includes the November security patches.

Some of the features included in the new OS are Live Caption, Smart Reply, Gesture Navigation, Dark Theme, Privacy Controls, Focus Mode, Family Link, Sound Amplifier, Location Controls, and more.

In other news, Sony is working on two new smartphones that are set to debut early next year at the CES 2020. One of them – sporting a model name K8220 – is going to be a mid-range offering with specs including Snapdragon 765G (or standard 765) chipset, and 8GB RAM, while the other with the model name SM8250 is a flagship device that is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 865 chipset. Both devices will come with 5G connectivity and run Android 10 OS out of the box.
