A new design patent reveals Sony Xperia 3 might sport a punch-hole design.

It appears that Sony might be working on brand new design for its 2020 flagship lineup. Sony’s recently published design patent on the WIPO Global Design Database reveals what appears to be renders of a phone — presumably the Sony Xperia 3 — featuring minimal bezels on the top and punch-hole display.

We also have a potential first look at the final design thanks to LetsGoDigital folks who have managed to recreate a rendering of the filed patent. And this is probably what Xperia 3 might look like:

Although a first for a Sony device, the design is not something worth getting excited about as we’ve seen quite a number of devices this year with similar looks, including Galaxy Note10, Galaxy A51, Galaxy A71, and more.

The Xperia 3 is supposedly Sony’s flagship phone for 2020, and will come equipped with Qualcomm’s most powerful chipset – the Snapdragon 865, 12GB of RAM, QHD display, 6 rear cameras, Android 10 OS, and 5G connectivity.

We don’t have an exact launch date at this point, but we expect the Xperia 3 to be unveiled at CES next year alongside the mid-range Xperia 6.
