Let’s talk about the Sony XZ1 latest leak: By now, it’s fair to say that we have heard pretty much everything there is to know about the forthcoming Sony’s flagship Xperia XZ1; thanks to the leaks and rumors that have been building around the phone since months. But apparently, there still exist several confusions when it comes to the design of the handset. However, the latest leak is huge and it should pretty much clear all your existing perplexities about the device.
Amidst a slew of leaks coming down the pipeline, the latest leak involves a purported render of the Sony XZ1. The leaks come from an Indian blog named “CompareRaja” who claims to have partnered with popular leaker Onleaks. Since the latter has a huge track record when it comes to Sony leaks or any phone leaks for that matter, it’s likely we are looking at the final design of the handset. And if that’s true, Sony is bringing yet another Xperia phone to the market with the same old (ugly) design.
The bezels are here to stay! Sony apparently loves those huge bezels that take up most part of the display. As per the new render leak, the forthcoming XZ1 should feature the same design as the current flagship XZ Premium. The only difference you’ll notice is the extra large hole for integrating the flashlight and other sensors.
Sony first disappointed us by bringing a year old design on a 2017 flagship – Xperia XZ Premium – while we were expecting something sort of an all-screen front design. And now they are about to repeat the same scenario with the forthcoming series of handsets – XZ1 and XZ1 Compact – when rumors were hinting that Sony would opt for a complete ground-up redesign. Not cool, Sony, not cool!
Fortunately, Sony has retained the 3.5mm headphone jack. That’s contradicting the earlier rumors that hinted it would ditch the traditional audio port on the new phones. While no sign of a fingerprint sensor is visible in these 3D renders, we believe it should be integrated on top of the power button on the left side. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to the Xperia fans as Sony did just the same with the XZP.
As far as the specs are concerned, the Xperia XZ1 should feature a 5.2-inch screen with FullHD (1080p) resolution. Other specifications, confirmed via several benchmarking sites, include Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB RAM, and 64GB storage. The best part is that it will come running the latest version of Android OS v8.0 ‘O’ (Oreo?)
Besides, several rumors have tipped that XZ1 will pack a 19MP rear-facing camera and a 12MP front-facing camera. Also, we might probably see one of the best features of the XZ Premium – slow-mo video at 960fps – making its way to the Sony XZ1.
If this is indeed the final device, it’s disappointing to see how Sony gives no crap about the old school design. All its rivals had jumped the ship months ago and put in efforts to revolutionalize the design side of things. Notably, what Samsung has done with the recently released Galaxy S8 is certainly appreciable. The Korean tech giant has done everything right with the Galaxy S8. It has all the top-of-the-line specs and a beautiful edge-to-edge Infinity display giving it an edge over every other handset.
Long story short, I’ll probably pass on the Sony XZ1 if these leaked renders turn out to be true. While that’s just my opinion, it’s not necessary that you should have a similar one. So, if do have a different opinion about the handset, do let us know about it in the comments.
